Two women are setting out to change the lives of Generation Zers by providing workshops on financial literacy and etiquette. Shay Olivarria of Bigger Than Your Block and Michelle Marts-Shannon of M Shannon Consulting are focused on providing vital information for youth in
Los Angeles .
Each woman has a business dedicated to working with youth. Students as young as 10 years old take part in workshops geared to provide necessary skills such as table manners, why good posture is important, understanding what an appreciating asset versus a depreciating asset is, and why maintaining a high FICO score is important.
To this end, the two have partnered to put on a workshop entitled “Food for the Mind: Etiquette and Financial Literacy for Today’s Child”. The four hour interactive workshop on Saturday, August 16th will include two hours allotted for etiquette and two hours allotted for financial literacy.
